Ellwood's Got Talent

Wow what a lot of talent we have in Ellwood school. Thank you to all those children who entered and well done to all the winners. Thank you to the school council and Mrs Marshall for organising it. We raised £50 for the British Heart Foundation, as well as having lots of fun!

Due to the school being closed on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th, the dress rehearsal of ‘Straw and Order’ will now be performed at 9:45am on Wednesday 13th December. We hope that you can still join us. Small children are welcome to this performance.
Coleford Lantern Parade: Saturday 2nd December, 2017

Thank you to all of our wonderful families who braved the cold to celebrate our town's Lantern Festival.  It was magical to see the children's smiling faces as they proudly represented our very special school.

We hope you enjoy viewing our photographs of the evening.  In addition to all of the festive fun provided as part of the event, we also enjoyed coming to face-to-face with a Dalek!

The project was developed with partnerships between SOUNDWORK Community Projects; Coleford Town Council; Coleford Area Partnership; The Art of Libraries project; and local schools - including ours!

During fascinating workshops (that were held in Sycamore Class and Willow Class by local volunteers and artists), our pupils had great fun creating impressive lanterns, with the help of parents and grandparents who very kindly offered their time to support our work in school.  We are hugely grateful for your valuable involvement with our learning.

On Saturday December 2nd, our children and their families joined hundreds of other community members in Coleford for a spectacular Lantern Parade.  The organisers were overwhelmed with our turnout and they praised our children's patience and positivity whilst waiting to begin.

When we set off, our lanterns created a sparkling spectacle as we walked through the town centre.  The people who lined the streeets clapped and waved to us as we proudly lit up the night sky.  It was a very happy occasion!

The Mayor was really impressed with everybody's efforts and the evening was full of festive fun.  The switching on of the town's Christmas lights was very exciting for all who attended.

Many thanks to Miss Rogers for coordinating our involvement - and to all of the children and family members who attended to celebrate.  It was wonderful to see many younger members of our school in the parade, even though they had not been involved in the workshops.  What a fantastic school community we have!

Well done to you all!  We are very proud of you!
