Birds of Prey

We were very lucky to have Mike from the Welsh Bird of Prey Centre visit our school with some of his birds of prey.

He talked us through all of the birds of prey that he had brought with him and did some demonstrations with the birds.

2 children from each class were lucky enough to hold the tawny owl at the end of the demonstration.
The children and the birds were very well behaved and both the teachers and Mike were impressed.
Gymnastic competition

Last Saturday saw 29 Ellwood gymnasts competing in the Forest of Dean gym competition. All of the children represented the school brilliantly and brought home 15 medals; 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 5 Bronze including overall level 2 girls’ winner and gold, silver and bronze in the year 1 level 1 girls’ competition.

In a very tightly fought competition, Ellwood were unfortunate to come in 4th place, only 0.65 points behind Madley in third place and 3.15 points behind the overall winners, Mitcheldean, who won for the first time in 19 years of the competition running, three weeks before their head retires.

Healthy Breakfast - March 2019

Thank you to everyone who came along and joined us for a healthy breakfast.

BIG thank you to all the staff that helped run the event!

World Book Day

We had a fantastic day celebrating books and authors at Ellwood.  The children held book swaps and we enjoyed 'mystery reader' sessions at the end of the day.

Mrs Wright would like to thank everyone for dressing up in fantastic costumes of favourite characters.  Also, Vicky Logan for speaking to the children about the local libraries in the morning assembly and Nikki Davis for organising the book fayre and half term sponsored read.

We managed to raise over £600 for new topic books!
Well done and thank you to all the children and parents for supporting this event.
