Oak Class

Class Teacher: Miss C Peart

Teaching Assistant: Mrs K Morris

Welcome to our class page!

Please view our 'Learning Journey' to find out what we are doing in Oak class during the Spring Term.

During our Forest Adventures, we read the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and had a lovely time in the woods 'Going on an Elf Hunt', where we retold and acted out the story and found some Fairy and Elf homes.  The children then set about building their own fairy village.
30 Days Wild

In Oak Class we have signed up to the '30 Days Wild' pledge. Each day we will complete a wild challenge set by The National Wildlife Trust.

Day 1: Feel the wild between your toes - squelch your toes in grass, sand or mud
Summer Term 1: The children have chosen a Veterinary Surgery for our next role play area.
Sport Relief - 22.03.18

We had a super golfing session. The children all had a go at using the golf club to hit the ball. We also played lots of physical games.
Sport Relief - 23.03.18

We had a super time learning circus skills with Tom. We all had a go at plate spinning and juggling with scarves.
March 2018
We have been busy creating rockets inspired by the story 'Whatever Next'.
Number Day 02.02.18

We have been busy exploring numbers in Oak class for 'Number Day'. We played lots of number games. We also explored number stories and puzzles. Miss Peart read the story 'How Big is a Million?'. This story was very exciting as we got to look at a million little stars on a big poster at the end of the book.
Butterfly Garden

We have some new additions in Oak Class. The children have been watching our caterpillars turn themselves into chrysalises for two weeks. The chrysalises have been moved into the butterfly garden ready for hatching.
100 Brilliant Books to read in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2!

In Oak class the children were eager to start reading the books listed on our '100 Brilliant Book' list. If you read any of these books at home (book list on 'English in Action' page) please encourage your child to come into school and add their name to the list.
We enjoy learning in our outdoor classroom!
We have been exploring the story 'What the Ladybird Heard'. The children have created story maps and painted a character from the story.
Roald Dahl Day - September 2017
We made dream jars inspired by the BFG. We also explored Snozzcumber gloop and made models with the playdough.
