Sycamore Class 2018/19
Teacher: Mr R. Gallop
Teaching Assistant: Mrs N. Genner-Morris .
Welcome back from your holidays Sycamore class! Our topic this term is called Fire Fire! This is a history based topic in which we will be focusing upon World War 2. Our class novel that we will be reading is ' Friend or Foe' by Michael Morpurgo. Please click on our topic map for this term to see in more detail what the topic will involve in the coming weeks. We have got so much to look forwards to this term, I can't wait to get started!
Happy new year from all in Sycamore class! This half term we will continue to learn about World War 2 as our topic. Our weekly homework's are grammar based and maths based - on the mymaths website. As ever we have a jam packed half term, full of fun filled lessons - including brass and woodwind lessons! Our Year 4 children will have swimming lessons every other Tuesday beginning the first week back. We will also be joined by Miss Loveridge who is a student teacher working in our class until April.
Thanks to Mrs Marshall I have been able to set up My maths activities online for all of our class. Please ask me if you need another copy of your log on. If you do not have internet access at home we can find the time to access it in school.
25/9/18 : This week we have been looking at famous World War 2 poets and have been looking at the features of their poems. We have been learning the famous poem 'Rocca San Giovanni' by George Fraser Gallie and we are now able to recite it.
30/1/19 - In literacy today we learnt a newspaper article about Usain Bolt off by heart and performed our renditions in groups to the rest of our class.
We were taken back in time during our topic lesson and investigated all sorts of different artifacts that soldiers and evacuee children would have had during the Second World War.
We have started the second part of Autumn half term well. Mr Halford, a local historian came to visit on 7/11/18 to help us learn about the role that the Forest of Dean had in World War Two. He taught us so much!
Sycamore have began taking home their weekly spellings, in readiness for their spelling tests every Friday. If we have lost or forgotten our spellings we know where to find them in our classroom. If we can practise these, our weekly homeworks and our Mymaths work each week we won't have to attend homework club, which Mr Gallop is soon starting.
We are also looking forwards to cooking a healthy World War 2 ration meal this term, as well as creating our own Anderson shelters.
