First day back of the Spring Term

For our first day back following the partial school-closure, we spent the morning in the garden. The children worked around three activities in friendship groups, chosen by them.
They had time to explore the beautiful school garden, that Mrs Rees has worked really hard on. They loved playing in the new mud kitchen and on our new slack line and swing. They explored the plants and looked for signs of Spring. The children really enjoyed just having some time with their friends to play and -catch-up'.
We kick-started our Science topic of Plants with groups working with Mrs Rees to plant up some strawberries and beech seeds.
Groups also worked with Miss Chisman to plant up their own runner beans and broad beans so that we can observe and monitor their growth this term.
What a fantastic first day back!
We had a fantastic Christmas Party day!
Everyone made a festive Christmas crown so they were party ready. We played lots of games like pass the parcel, balloon races and even turned a friend into a snowman!
No Pens-Day Wednesday

The children had fun learning without pens or pencils. For English they performed mini-puppet shows for each other, to orally retell their innovated narratives. In Maths they explored different ways to make 100, using base-10 equipment.
Science
The children have enjoyed exploring our beautiful garden to search for micro-habitats. They drew and labelled pictures and then carried out a mini-beast hunt to compare the mini-beasts found in different micro-habitats.
Shoe-box habitats
The children had so much fun designing and then creating their shoe-box habitats as a way to showcase their knowledge and understanding from our Science topic. Each habitat had animals and plants that live in there chosen habitat, as well as a food chain. Well done everyone!
Odd Socks Day

To celebrate our differences and show that we are united against bullying, the children wore odd socks to school to kick start Anti-Bullying week.
Cricket
The children really enjoyed their cricket session. They practiced their throwing and catching skills, being challenged to touch their nose and cheeks before catching! Then they played a game and everyone had a go at batting and fielding.
