Our Governors

Helen Cornock - Chair of Governors
Being chair of Governors was a challenge that I have welcomed. Having two outstanding nurseries on school sites I felt that I was capable of being able to support, especially in the Early Years. Education is my passion and I am looking forward to my term as Chair and providing a strategic overview for Ellwood School. We believe that all children should Believe, Achieve, Belong at Ellwood School.
Dr John Newland - Vice Chair of Governors
Participating in the governing committees allows me to be involved across the whole school.
Having a background in the metals/engineering industry, I have a particular interest in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subject areas. I am currently link governor for Mathematics.
I share the Governor's vision for the school of a safe, secure environment that provides the best education for pupils at Ellwood.
Mrs Judy Clements - Staff Governor
I have worked at the school since 1999. I have taught year groups 1 -4. I am SENco and Science  co-ordinator as well as Deputy Safeguarding Lead and work closely with a range of outside agencies. I am responsible for co-ordinating KS1 SATs and moderating Teacher Assessments within the school, working closely with other staff. I have mentored new staff and NQTs as well as assessing and mentoring both TA and PGCE students.
Mr Tom Pritchard - Parent Governor
I have been a  parent governor for 2 years and have 3 children at school. I have the children's interests at heart. Please feel free to speak to me about any concerns or matters you would like me to take to your school governors.
Mrs Ceri Ulyatt - Parent Governor
Reasons for being a Governor are:
"I want all children to be happy, confident and the best that they can be during their time at Ellwood Community Primary School. For me, this means supporting the school where necessary, but being prepared to put the school under scrutiny, if required. I see the role as Parent Governor as a privilege and I truly value the opportunity to make a difference".
Rebecca Smith - Co-opted Governor
My name is Rebecca Smith, I am a recently co-opted Governor at Ellwood School with a keen focus upon raising and celebrating standards in English. There are two main reasons why I decided to become a Governor at Ellwood School:
  • Firstly, my daughter in Year 6 attends the school so it is very rewarding to give something back to the local school and community who are supporting my child through the education system so that they can flourish and grow.
  • Secondly, I am a Senior Leader at a local Secondary School so I have been able to work with many students who have previously attended Ellwood. This link allows me to share my own experience and best practice in education and helps me understand the drive for continuous improvement as well as sharing new strategies in order to raise attainment, achievement and to make a school that is able to help all of its stakeholders enjoy learning.
Mrs Marilyn Charles - Co-opted Governor
I have been employed at Ellwood SChool for over 22 years and have seen the school evolve and grow.
I have worked across the school and I have a passion for the development of Speech, Language and Phonics.
It was a privilege to be offered the post of Family Support Worker and I am enjoying developing the role.
As a governor, I feel involved in being part of a team that will continue Ellwood to thrive.
